A Note From NE Florida Multi-Area Director

NE Florida FCA • Mar 09, 2021

2020 is certainly a year we will remember for the rest of our lives. And even though we do not know what 2021 will bring, we can continue to confidently cling to the promise of Psalm 32:8. Regardless of the challenges and circumstances, the Lord continues to instruct, teach and counsel us in the way we should go, while never taking His eye off us. Thank God!

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.” -Psalm 32:8

As NE Florida FCA walks into a new year, we are thankful for the opportunity to do sports ministry every day. Although the adversities of 2020 were and continue to be real, they have deepened and refined our faith. We continue to hold fast to our mission of leading coaches and athletes into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. In His grace, the Lord has continued to show us ways to keep going despite the challenges. He truly has instructed us, taught us, and counseled us. He’s never taken His eye off of us.

We are excited to share highlights with you from the final months of 2020—as well as share plans we have in the works:

  • #GivingTuesday 2020 was an incredible success—positioning us for effective discipleship with coaches and athletes in these early months of 2021. Thank you for resourcing FCA in order to provide Bibles and The CORE across much of NE Florida!

  • NE Florida FCA was generously blessed by so many people providing year-end financial gifts—roughly 30% of 2020 revenues. As a faith funded ministry, we give thanks to the Lord for His provision.

  • The NE Florida FCA Team has executed two webinars with mental health experts to encourage and tool athletes, coaches and parents to constructively respond to the challenges and effects of COVID-19, racial & social tension, and other stressors currently present in our world.

  • January 1st marked the introduction of our annual FCA ministry theme—PURSUE—coming from 1 Timothy 6:11: "Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” Join us in praying that coaches and athletes will move from a state of uncertainty to a position of confidence as a result of their pursuit of Jesus in 2021.

  • We are excited for Scott Olson to be onboarding with NE Florida FCA as an Area Representative in Jacksonville, Duval County—River West.

  • NE Florida FCA will host a virtual Breakfast with the Pros at THE PLAYERS 2021. Lord willing we look forward to returning to the Sawgrass Marriott in 2022, but for this year, we are prayerfully expectant that this virtual format has the potential to reach far more people than simply coaches and athletes just here in NE Florida.

  • We continue to pray specifically for Area Directors we are looking to hire in four of our five NE Florida footprints—as well as God rising up the board members that will come alongside to support these key leaders and their staff teams.

We are abundantly grateful for all that the Lord has done and continues to do as He leads NE Florida FCA and keeps His eye upon us. Your continued support through your time, talents and treasure makes us thankful.  Praying the Lord grant you confidence and peace as He instructs, teaches and counsels with His eye upon you.

You are loved,

Matthew Roop, PGA

Multi-Area Director, NE Florida FCA
